This past weekend we dodged the Black Friday chaos and drove down to the Outer Banks for our first family vacation. We’ve taken trips in the past, but it was to visit our families in Iowa. We have lived in Hampton Roads off and on for 7 years (minus deployments) and we should have been going to all these cool places here! With 7 months left in Virginia we are now regretting not taking advantage of all the sight seeing we could have done. But hopefully we’ll do some more before we’re gone. Another place I’d love to venture out to is Williamsburg. Yep, we’ve never been there. DC would be great too.
We arrived late Friday afternoon to our hotel. Within minutes we were informed that Groupon canceled our reservation! I think I need to listen to my smart husband more often, because he kept telling me to call the hotel even though on our end everything was good to go. So we were freaking out to say the least! We got a super good deal and we didn’t want to have to pay full price or go back home! The lady came back and said the best words I heard all day “We got you the 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite with a full kitchen and ocean view”. I about died! If anyone knows my husband then you know he is unlucky, I’m not even joking LOL! This was a big deal for us.
Our short but sweet vacation consisted of awesome seafood, almost free breakfast, Currituck Beach Lighthouse (and facing my fear of heights!), Wright Brothers National Memorial, Jockey’s Ridge State Park, amazing Carolina BBQ, swimming in a cold pool haha, falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves, beautiful landscapes, waking up to dolphins swimming right in front of us and spending some time on the beach before our drive back home. It sure was chilly but we had a wonderful time! Caleb kept saying “This is the best vacation EVER!”
I met with Connie last weekend to help teach her more about manual mode, how to get a photography business started, some helpful techniques and more. She got her DSLR about a year ago when she was pregnant with her beautiful baby girl. I can really relate to her on getting into photography during pregnancy. It was a roller coaster start for me. I’m so glad she found me so I could help her get there faster than what it took me haha! She is such a fast learner and is really passionate about photography. Her hubby just recently deployed so she will have fun practicing everything she learned on her daughter and I’m sure will be sending him lots of pictures!
I had a blast getting to know her and teaching her how to get to the next level! We went outside for a bit to put it all into practice. She is so adorable and fashionable Easy to photograph! Here are a few headshots I took of her!
If you are needing some assistance with manual mode and advanced techniques I’d love to help you get there! Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a mentoring session with me!
I REALLY love seeing glamour maternity photos and have been secretly wanting to photograph it as well. With the winter pretty much here in Hampton Roads (brrrrr it’s cold out there!) it’s a great time to expand my maternity specialty to include these more intimate sessions!
Pregnancy sometimes can seem ugly with all the changes going on with your body and hormones. Trust me, I’ve been there! While that may be true, pregnancy is a magical thing to experience. Something you will only experience for a short 9 months or so. I definitely miss my little boys in my belly every so often! It’s such an amazing thing to feel your growing miracle from the inside. I want to help you treasure that longer. Let’s create some photos that you will treasure forever. I’ve got some pretty fabrics and clothing to make you feel beautiful. With simple poses and movements you will be in love with your images
I began this expansion with my friend Laura. She is at the perfect time in her pregnancy right now for me haha! I had a lot of fun with her. Except she’s tall and I’m short so I was busy shooting while standing on a chair. I got some exercise by constantly moving from my chair to her to fine tune the poses LOL. You will see her featured on my blog two more times, one for her birth and another for baby Evelyn’s newborn session! I cannot wait! My next mommy to be is getting in front of my camera next week, hopefully! We’re both crazy busy but we are trying to get together soon! I am also photographing her birth and her baby girl Aurora’s newborn session! Both of these ladies are photographers themselves, and fantasticly awesome I might add They both are brewing such cute set up ideas. I’m so excited they chose me. It’s such an honor and compliment!!!!!!
Okay, here is the lovely Laura. Very simple but that’s what I like! It’s all you need sometimes <3
