FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are questions that have been asked quite often. I decided a page dedicated to these common questions was an essential part of the learning experience and to help understand what to expect. If you have a question that you don't see here, please email me and I will be more than happy to answer!

Can I meet you before I book?

Absolutely! It is not required but I always welcome consultations if clients need to ask questions in person or want to take a peek at my studio. Please inquire about scheduling one!

When is the best time for maternity photos?

The ideal time frame for maternity sessions is when mama is between 28 and 36 weeks. I have had exceptions where I had clients come to me at 39 weeks. It just depends on availability.

When is the best time for newborn photos?

In the past I have taken newborns who are between 5 and 14 days. I've eliminated that small time window and now I schedule between 5 days and up to 6 weeks old. Through the years I've learned to embrace those awake shots, if a baby can't quite fall asleep. I still make them comfortable and the result continues to be the same - beautiful images!

What time of day is best for sessions?

For on location sessions usually 1-2 hours before sunset, depending on the location. This is called the Golden Hour in the photography world. It creates gentle, warm and even light. Whereas middle of the day light creates harsh light, very dark shadows and people tend to have squinty eyes. For studio sessions, anytime. Newborns tend to sleep better in the morning.

Can we do parent/sibling photos?

Yes, I encourage sibling and family shots! Your child is little only once and it goes by so fast. Moms, I know you feel and look tired. I get it, I've been there. But don't worry about your outside appearance. I have years of experience in posing techniques to make women look their very best even when they don't feel it. So get in those photos. Think to when your tiny baby will be all grown up, off to college, and becoming independent. You'll look at the newborn photos. Suddenly all the incredible memories of how little your baby was will come back to you, and how much they needed you. You'll be glad you captured those early days of your special bond together beginning to bloom. <3

Do I need to bring anything?

I have a plethora of photography props in the studio for maternity, newborns, babies, and children. Clients love the vast selection choices for their session. But sometimes I love to incorporate items that have special meaning to my clients. Do you have a favorite sports team? Do you have a handmade quilt from a beloved grandmother? The possibilities are endless to create a session that is unique to your family!

How many outfit changes can I have?

I don't have a limit on outfit changes as long as it is within the alloted session time frame. Past clients usually have 1 to 2 outfits for their maternity or family sessions.

How long does it take to see my photos? And how many images are there?

It takes 2 to 3 weeks to select the very best images from your session, and professionally retouch them. We will schedule a Reveal Session within a week to view and order photo products. I always include a minimum of 20 images in a gallery. For more information on what happens after a session please email me to read my full length client guide.

Do you ever offer discounts? What about payments?

Yes I often announce sales on my Facebook page and in my newsletter. I also have a discount for repeat clients. Payment plans are always available that many of my clients have taken advantage of. Ask me what your options are!
